Open to your CA. Still in your hands.

Invite your CA to a read-only view of your books. Answer their queries on the entry itself, close each quarter with a checklist and sign-off, and hand over Tally XML and a filing pack.

WORKING WITH YOUR ACCOUNTANT

They see everything. They change nothing.

Your CA gets the books as they are - every entry, statement and document - and a place to ask about them. Edits, payments and invites stay with you.

  • Read-only by design

Your CA sees books, documents and statements but can't edit them. Changes stay with your team.

  • Books only or with payroll

Choose payroll access when you invite, switch it later, or revoke access any time.

  • Queries pinned to entries

A question can be pinned to its entry, with replies, file attachments and an open or resolved status.

  • Filing checklist and sign-off

A starter list your CA edits. Sign-off needs every item ticked, and reopening keeps a record of it.

  • Tally XML and registers

Payment and receipt vouchers for Tally import, plus ledger, party and salary registers in CSV or XLSX.

  • One filing pack

One ZIP your CA downloads with the period's registers, Tally vouchers and a manifest of what's inside.

Invite, answer, sign off, export.

HOW IT WORKS

From an invite to a filing pack.

  1. Type their email, choose books only or books + payroll, and send. Access is read-only from the start.

    Invite accountant
    • Emailca@skrishnan.in
    • Include payrollOn
    • Read-only · books + payrollAccess

Send invite - they get a link to the CA portal.

  2. Your accountant accepts and works in the CA portal. Accountants don't count as seats on your plan.

  3. Their question is pinned to the entry. Reply with the document attached; they resolve it when they have what they need.

Pinned to the entry, so the answer stays with the record.

  4. Statements reconciled, invoices collected, TDS deposited, payroll reviewed - ticked in the portal and signed off.

INVITE YOUR CA

One email. Read-only from the start.

Type your accountant's email, choose whether payroll is included, and send. They join the CA portal with read-only access to your books and statements - and they don't use up a seat on your plan.

  • Books only, or books and payroll
  • Read-only: no edits, no payments, no invites
  • Accountants don't count as seats

QUERIES ON THE ENTRY

They ask on the record. You answer on the record.

A query is pinned to the entry it is about. Your CA asks, you reply with the document attached, and the thread is resolved where the next person will look for it. Only owners and admins see queries - staff don't.

  • Pinned to the entry, with the document attached
  • Resolved by your CA when they have what they need
  • Visible to owners and admins only

CHECKLIST, EXPORTS AND THE PACK

Close the quarter. Hand it over.

Each period has a checklist your CA works through in the portal and signs off. Then the exports: Tally voucher XML, the ledger as CSV, the registers as XLSX - or all of it in one filing pack.

YOU STAY IN CHARGE

Open to your CA. Still in your hands.

Accountant access is read-only at the server, not just hidden in the app. Everyone with access is listed on your Accountants page, where you can switch payroll access on or off, or revoke access.

  • Only owners and admins see queries with your CA - staff on your team don't
  • Books-only access blocks payroll and leaves payroll registers out of exports
  • Accountants don't count toward your plan's seats
  • If your CA's firm assigns colleagues, each one shows up on your list

GOOD QUESTIONS. CLEAR ANSWERS.

About
CA collaboration.

A few things to know before you start.

See all features
Can my CA change anything in my books?

No. Accountant access is read-only, and that is enforced on the server. Your CA can raise queries, reply in threads and work the filing checklist - every other change stays with you and your team.

Does adding my CA use up a seat?

No. Accountants don't count toward your plan's seats, and neither do colleagues your CA's firm assigns. Seats are for your own team.

Can I keep payroll private from my CA?

Yes. Untick Include payroll when you invite, or switch it later on the Accountants page. With books-only access, payroll is blocked, names on salary entries are hidden and payroll registers are left out of exports.

Does KhataPilot file my GST returns?

No. The checklist tracks your CA's work for the period and the exports support their review. Your CA files returns as usual - the filing pack is a set of registers, not a prepared return.

Does my CA need a KhataPilot account?

You invite them by email and they work in the CA portal. An accountant does not count as a seat on your plan, and you can invite more than one.

What's in the filing pack?

Tally voucher XML for the period, the ledger as CSV, the registers as XLSX - including the salary register when payroll is shared - and the signed-off checklist, in one ZIP.
